Volunteers at Mampong Hospital

 Volunteer Medical Staff

One of our projects enables Healthcare Professionals – mainly doctors and nurses – to volunteer at Mampong Government Hospital and with the District Health Service. This gives them an opportunity to learn from dealing with conditions that they would not usually come across, experience the challenges of delivering healthcare in a relatively resource-poor setting as well as sharing their skills with the staff in Ghana.

Volunteers live in our volunteer’s accommodation in Gyetiase, and keep in close communication with our medical trustees, who mentor them during their stay. It is a safe, well supported environment which they have found hugely rewarding and can make a real difference.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training

With the support of donors and volunteers, Ashanti Development is helping to deliver a sustainable CPR training programme. The training is provided to medical and nursing staff from Mampong Government Hospital and the District Health Service, as well as members of the local ambulance, fire, and police services. This programme strengthens emergency response across the region and helps save lives.
